BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb’s opponent for ESPNU BracketBusters was revealed Monday, and the Runnin’ Bulldogs will host old rival Elon on Saturday, February 20, at 7:00 pm in Paul Porter Arena.

As part of the BracketBusters agreement, GWU will play a return game at Elon next season.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs (6-15) last played Elon in the second game of the 2003-2004 season, capturing a 68-65 win in Columbia, S.C. The two teams have met 33 times previously – as both teams were longtime rivals in NAIA District 26 and the South Atlantic Conference – with Gardner-Webb owning a 23-10 edge in the series.

Elon (4-16) is led by Drew Spradlin’s 13.3 ppg scoring average. The Phoenix are averaging just over 63 points as a team this season.

Gardner-Webb will be playing in its second BracketBusters event, which includes 98 teams from mid-major conferences around the country. GWU dropped its meeting at James Madison last season.
