London, Ontario, Canada - Gardner-Webb rising senior and 2011 Big South All-Conference performer J.J. Regan carded back-to-back rounds of 70, -2 under par, to win the London Hunt Club Amateur tournament with a combined score of 140, -4 under par, on Monday at the London Hunt Country Club.
Regan, who played at London Hunt in junior interclubs and in the men's tournament, won the 36-hole event by one stroke over Drew Symons who carded rounds of 71 and 70.
"It's my favorite course", Regan said. "I've played it quite a number of times the past five or six years."
The rising senior had a strong back nine in the final round, carding birdies on the 10th, 12th and 16th holes.
Fellow GWU teammate Daley Byles finished in a tie for third-place overall with a two-round combined score of 143, -1 under par, and only three strokes behind the winner in Regan.
Byles, who rode with Regan in a cart for both rounds, had a two-stroke lead over Regan and Sutton after the first round on Monday morning in which he shot a 68, -4 under par.
Regan replaces Jace Walker as the reigning champion, who has just turned pro. Walker won it in both 2010 and 2008 when he was a student at Bowling Green University.
Regan will now turn his sights on the Ontario Amateur in Brampton, Ontario, Canada on July 12-15.
