Morganton, N.C. - Gardner-Webb junior Meghan Allum posted a top-10 finish overall, as the Runnin' Bulldogs finished sixth in the team standings at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate hosted by Appalachian State at the par 72, 5,810-yard Donald Ross designed golf course in Morganton, N.C.
As a team, in which the top-five scores counted each day, the Gardner-Webb women's' golf team carded rounds of 406 and 391 to finish in sixth-place overall with a two-day combined team score of 797, +77.
Allum, who finished tied for ninth overall in the individual standings, carded a first round 79 on Monday and a second round 75 on Tuesday to finish with a two-round combined score of 154, +10.
Fellow junior Sammy Vass turned in rounds of 79 and 80 over the two-day event to finish in a tie for 22nd-place overall with a combined score of 159, +15.
Senior Courtney Finocchiaro and junior Hannah Hellyer finished back-to-back, as Finocchiaro's two rounds of 82 and 78 gave her a combined score of 160, +16, good enough to place her in a tie at 25th-place, while Hellyer posted rounds of 84 and 77 to finish one stroke behind fellow teammate Finocchiaro at 161, +17, and in 27th-place overall.
Rounding out the scoring for the Runnin' Bulldogs was junior Lauren Smith and sophomore Pilar Morgan. Smith carded rounds of 82 and 81 to finish in a tie at 29th-place with a two-day combined score of 163, +19, while Morgan turned in rounds of 84 and 86 to finish with a combined score of 170, +26, placing her in a tie at 39th-place overall.
Western Carolina won the event, as the Lady Catamounts recorded a two-round combined team score of 764, +44, to finish 16 strokes ahead of the second-place finisher and host Appalachian State (780, +60).
The Gardner-Webb women's golf team will return to the links next Monday, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will be the No. 4 seed at the 2012 Big South Conference Women's Golf Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety-Six, S.C.
