Shelby, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's basketball team traded in their Runnin' Bulldog uniforms for tool belts and paint rollers on Saturday, April 14th, as the Runnin' Bulldogs teamed up to work with Habitat for Humanity through the Rotary Club in Shelby, N.C.
The female student-athletes worked on a house in Shelby, preparing the interior of the house throughout to be painted and finished. The girls picked up new skills such as filling in nail holes, sanding down dry wall on walls and rough edges of doors and doorframes.
At the conclusion of the day, the girls worked together as a team, leaving the house in great condition to be painted, which was the next step in preparing for the family to move in to their new home.
"It is always great to give back to the community, especially when it is in your own back yard," commented Head Coach Rick Reeves. "Our girls worked hard and really enjoyed the experience."
