Boiling Springs, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women’s basketball team continued to receive votes in the ESPN/USA Today Top-25 Coaches’ Poll and also moved up another spot in the Digital Sports Daily NCAA Women’ s Basketball Top-25 rankings this week.
For the seventh straight week, and the 11th week overall, the Lady Bulldogs received votes in the ESPN/USA Today Top-25 Coaches’ Poll tallying a record high 15 votes. The 15 votes, which is three more votes than last week’s results, is the most that the Lady Bulldogs have every received in the national top-25 poll.
The Lady Bulldogs made its debut in the Digital Sports Daily NCAA Women’s Basketball Top-25 rankings four weeks ago at the No. 25 spot. Since then, the Lady Bulldogs have remained in top-25, moving up one spot each week.
With the new DSD Top-25 rankings coming out on Monday afternoon, the Lady Bulldogs climbed up yet another spot to No. 22 overall after picking up two Big South Conference wins this week.
Gardner-Webb (24-3, 13-1 Big South) is one of only four mid-major teams in the top-25 rankings, as Xavier of the Atlantic 10 is ranked seventh. The other two mid-major schools are both sitting behind the Lady Bulldogs in the rankings, as Gonzaga is No. 23 and Dayton is No. 24.
