Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb softball team will wrap up their 2012 home slate this week with a five-game home stand versus Presbyterian College and Charleston Southern with the Runnin' Bulldogs holding Senior Day on Saturday, April 21st, at Varsity Field.

The Runnin' Bulldogs will host Presbyterian in an important Big South Conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Varsity Field.

Then on Saturday and Sunday, Gardner-Webb will welcome the Charleston Southern Buccaneers to town for a three-game Big South Conference series.  The two teams are scheduled to play two games on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. and one game on Sunday with a slated 2 p.m. start time.

Gardner-Webb is coming off back-to-back late inning come from behind wins over the Winthrop Lady Eagles last weekend.

GWU, who defeated PC 6-4 in Clinton, S.C. back on March 28th, is currently tied with the Lady Blue Hose in fifth-place overall in the Big South with a conference record of 6-7. Since defeating PC in the two teams' meeting earlier this season, GWU has gone 6-5 overall, including posting a 5-4 record in conference play.

During that stretch, senior McKenzie Morenus has been on a torrid pace at the plate, hitting .464 with 13 hits, two double, five RBI and an on-base percentage of .595.

Over the last 11 games, GWU has had four players hit over .333 in Morenus (.464), Savannah Burns (.353), Samantha Meenaghan (.333) and Morgan Baker (.333). While in the circle, reigning Big South Conference Pitcher of the Week, Cindy Boomhower has posted a 3-1 record with two saves and an ERA of 1.50 in nine appearances.

The Presbyterian College Lady Blue Hose are 14-24 overall and 6-7 in Big South play this season.  PC, who is 6-10 in true road contests thus far this year, have lost four of their last five games after sweeping Winthrop on April 6-7th.

PC, who does not have a single player hitting over .300 on the year, is led at the plate by Shelby Petik, who is hitting a team-high .290 with seven double, two home runs and 14 RBI, and Tera Powell, who is hitting .285 with a team-high 35 hits for the season.

The Bucs of Charleston Southern are 25-19 overall and 10-5 in conference action heading into play this week.  Charleston Southern has won six of their last nine games and are currently in second-place overall in the Big South Regular Season standings.

The Buccaneers, who are only 9-9 in true road contests on the season, are led by the right arm of star pitcher Morgan Dowdy.  Dowdy, a two-time Big South Pitcher of the Week selection already this season, is 14-10 overall with an ERA of 2.08 on the season.  Dowdy has 18 complete games and has recorded 109 strikeouts over 174.2 innings pitched for the year.
