Boiling Springs, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women’s basketball team continued to receive votes in the ESPN/USA Today Top-25 Coaches’ Poll and also moved up another spot in the Digital Sports Daily NCAA Women’ s Basketball Top-25 rankings this week.
For the eighth straight week, and the 12th week overall, the Lady Bulldogs received votes in the ESPN/USA Today Top-25 Coaches’ Poll tallying a total of 15 votes for the second straight week. The 15 votes is the most that the Lady Bulldogs have every received in the national top-25 poll.
The Lady Bulldogs made its debut in the Digital Sports Daily NCAA Women’s Basketball Top-25 rankings five weeks ago at the No. 25 spot. Since then, the Lady Bulldogs have remained in top-25, moving up one spot each week.
That trend continued this week, as with the new DSD Top-25 rankings coming out on Monday afternoon, the Lady Bulldogs climbed up yet another spot to No. 21 overall after picking up its record setting win over Charleston Southern on Saturday, February 27.
Gardner-Webb (25-3, 14-1 Big South) has already claimed a share of the Big South Conference Regular Season Title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming 2010 Big South Conference Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament on March 12-14.
The Lady Bulldogs will wrap up its regular season slate on Friday, March 5, at Coastal Carolina, where if GWU picks up a win, the Lady Bulldogs will win the regular season conference championship outright. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
