Brevard, N.C. - Erica White and Alice Hopkins improved to 7-1 in singles play this season respectively as the Runnin' Bulldogs won every match to put away Brevard 7-0 on the road on Thursday afternoon.

With the win, GWU improves to 4-4 (1-1 Big South) this season. Brevard drops to 2-3 on the year.

Six Runnin' Bulldogs earned multiple wins during Thursday's match. The No. 3 doubles tandem of White/Ronia Hutterli gave GWU an 8-0 win over Brevard's Elise Labus/Ellie Bartholomew. At No. 2 doubles, freshmen Yasmin Doost (Bray, England) and Hopkins (Birmingham, England) knocked off the Tornado tandem of Lindsay Hostetter/Jennifer Nyman by an 8-3 margin. Ioana Oprea (Bucharest, Romania) and Jenny Lunde (Hoevik, Norway) teamed up to win at the No. 1 doubles position, outlasting Claire Dillman/Michelle Prata 8-5.

Gardner-Webb kept its momentum after earning the doubles point. Hutterli (Duebendorf, Switzerland) cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over the Tornadoes' Jennifer Nyman at No. 5 singles. Also posting a 6-0, 6-0 win for the Runnin' Bulldogs was Doost, defeating Bartholomew at the No. 6 singles spot.

Hopkins earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Hostetter at the No. 2 position. The freshman, owning a 6-1 record this season at No. 2 singles, has won her last five matches at No. 2 singles as well as No. 2 doubles.

White (Charleston, W.V.) won 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 1 singles slot, defeating Dillman to earn the point for Gardner-Webb. White's 7-1 singles record (all at No. 1) ties with Hopkins' for the team lead.

At No. 3, Oprea outlasted Breavard's Prata to earn the win by a margin of 7-6, 6-0. Lunde picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win over Labus at No. 4 singles for Gardner-Webb.

GWU next faces UAB (3-4) of Conference USA for a home match on Saturday. The match is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start time.
