Asheville, N.C. - Gardner-Webb women's tennis took a shortened match at Big South opponent UNC Asheville, winning 4-0 on the road in its regular season finale.
GWU (13-8, 4-4) evened its Big South record with the win and ended its regular season with a four match winning streak with the conference tournament ahead.
Due to weather concerns in the Asheville area, the match consisted of singles play only.
The Runnin' Bulldogs got a win from junior Erica White (Charleston, W.V. at No. 1 singles. The junior took a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Asheville's Emily McNall to give GWU the point.
Gaining her 19th singles win of the season was freshman Alice Hopkins (Birmingham, England), who won the match at the No. 2 position 6-3, 6-0 over Amryn Soldier. Hopkins leads GWU in wins, having posted a 19-2 singles record on the season to date.
Gardner-Webb junior Ronia Hutterli (Duebendorf, Switzerland) cruised to the win at No. 5, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Amie Cloer.
Another Runnin' Bulldog freshman picked up a singles win Wednesday, as Yasmin Doost (Bray, England) won the match at No. 6.
With the win, Gardner-Webb recorded its 13th win of the season, the most for a Runnin' Bulldog team since Head Coach Jim Corn took the reins of the program in 2007.
Gardner-Webb women's tennis next competes at the 2012 Big South Conference Tournament April 19-21. The tournament will be held on the campus of UNC Asheville.
