BOILING SPRINGS - Gardner-Webb will open both the 2013 and 2014 football seasons against Furman, as the Runnin' Bulldogs and Paladins square off in a home-and-home series.

The two teams will meet on Saturday, August 31, 2013 in Boiling Springs, N.C., and in Greenville, S.C., on August 30, 2014. Gardner-Webb and Furman have not met on the gridiron since 2005 – with the Paladins taking a 48-31 win that season at home.

Furman holds a 3-0 edge in the series, winning in Greenville in 2003 and 2005 and in Boiling Springs in 2004. That 2004 contest was the first in Gardner-Webb's renovated Spangler Stadium.

Furman replaces Old Dominion on the 2013 schedule.

Gardner-Webb also has home games with Richmond (9/14), Charleston Southern (11/16) and Liberty (11/23) scheduled so far for the 2013 season – along with road games within an hour drive against Wofford (9/21) and Charlotte (10/5).
