CHARLOTTE - Gardner-Webb student-athletes earned 13 positions on the 2012 All-Big South Conference Football Team Tuesday afternoon, with four earning first-team honors.

The Runnin' Bulldogs tied Coastal Carolina and Liberty for the most spots on the team with the baker's dozen.

Tight end Seth Cranfill (Sherrill's Ford, N.C. / Bandys HS), offensive tackle Steve Demilio (Severna Park, Md. / Milford Academy), linebacker Tanner Burch (Savannah, Ga. / Savannah Christian Prep) and punter Bo Lindsey (Roebuck, S.C. / Dorman HS) were each named first-team All-Big South.

Cranfill established new Gardner-Webb and Big South Conference marks for single-season receptions, hauling in 37 passes for 366 yards and two scores – breaking the previous league mark of 34 catches set in 2009 by Coastal Carolina's David Duran. Jason Bright had the previous Gardner-Webb record with 32 catches.

Cranfill also set a new league single-game mark with nine receptions against Samford on September 15.

Demilio started all 11 games at right tackle for the Runnin' Bulldogs, and earned All-Big South Conference honors for the second season in a row. The 6-foot-5, 293-pound redshirt senior is one of five GWU players invited to play in the 2012 FCS Senior Scout Bowl later this year in Myrtle Beach.

Burch missed Gardner-Webb's final two games with an injury, but still had a profound impact on the GWU defense - and on the league's statistical listings. The 6-foot-3, 242-pound sophomore led the league and ranked No. 2 nationally with 12.6 tackles per game. Burch had at least 10 tackles in eight different games for the Runnin' Bulldogs in 2012.

Lindsey enjoyed an outstanding senior season - his first as the team's full-time starter - punting the football. He led the Big South and ranked No. 14 nationally with an average of 42.8 yards per attempt. Lindsey pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line 16 times and boomed 13 kicks of 50 yards or more.

Gardner-Webb placed nine on the All-Big South second team, with running back Kenny Little (Flanders, N.J. / Mt. Olive HS), offensive guard Jamie Dunaway (Lyman, S.C. / Byrnes HS), defensive end Preston Pemasa (Garden Grove, Calif. / Orange Lutheran HS) and long snapper Hudson Smith (Aiken, S.C. / Aiken HS) making repeat All-Conference appearances.

Dunaway and Pemasa each earned their third All-Conference spot, with the 6-foot-3, 290-pound Dunaway finishing his career with a school-record 44 consecutive starts.

Center Austin Sargent (Ninety Six, S.C. / Ninety Six HS) was named second-team All-Conference for the first time in his career, capping off a strong senior season. Defensive lineman Maurice Dickson (Hillside, N.J. / Fork Union Military Academy) also made his first appearance on the All-Conference squad after pacing the Big South with 5.5 sacks.

Kenny Cook (Clinton, S.C. / Clinton HS) also earned a spot on the second team after hauling in 48 catches and seven touchdowns – with six of those scores coming in Big South games.

J.J. Hubbard took up two spots on the All-Conference squad, earning second-team honors at both kick returner and punt returner. Hubbard's 15.2 yards per return average was the league's top mark, but his nine returns left him shy of the statistical minimum to qualify for the league lead.

Lucas Beatty (Charlotte, N.C. / Olympic HS) represented Gardner-Webb on the Big South Conference All-Academic Team. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound sophomore carries a 3.65 cumulative grade point average in Finance and led the Big South Conference in 2012 with a career-high 2,483 passing yards. Beatty's passing effort was the fourth-best in Gardner-Webb history.
