Davidson, N.C. - The Runnin' Bulldogs were unable to make it two wins in a row against Davidson, falling behind early in a 4-2 loss on the road Tuesday evening in a non-conference matchup at Davidson's Knobloch Tennis Center.
GWU (0-3) found itself down 1-0 after doubles play, as the Wildcats won at No.'s 1 and 3 doubles to grab the opening point.
Adam Knutsson-Sundblad (Gothenburg, Sweden) secured the first singles win for the Runnin' Bulldogs on the day while playing at the No. 1 position. The senior got hot early en route to a 6-1, 6-4 triumph against Davidson's Nicky Kunz to pick up his first singles win of the 2013 season.
Another Runnin' Bulldog garnered his first singles win on Tuesday. Freshman Benjamin Kaszás (Budapest, Hungary) earned his first collegiate win in singles play, as he battled for a 6-3, 7-5 win over the Wildcats' Robert Lightbourn at the No. 3 slot.
Wins at No. 2, 4, and 5 singles for the host Davidson Wildcats provided the final margin.
Gardner-Webb will turn around to compete in its home opener on Saturday, February 9 against Augusta State. Saturday's match is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
