The Runnin' Bulldogs and head coach Chris Holtmann are partnering with MANA (Mother Administered Nutritive Aid / mananutrition.com) to provide a case of Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) for every 3-pointer made in Saturday's game.
Opening tip is set for 7:00 pm, and the game will be televised on ESPN3 (WatchESPN.com).
"Severe malnutrition in children is a significant issue, and this organization is making real progress in the fight against it," said Holtmann. "We are in a position to help, and Saturday night is a perfect opportunity to allow our guys a chance to give back and make an impact beyond the basketball court. A case of MANA administered over the course of six weeks can literally save a child's life. It's a terrific cause and one we're very excited to be involved with."
MANA's product is a fortified peanut paste that has been carefully formulated to provide all of a child's basic nutritional needs. Just three servings of MANA per day can save the life of a starving child. The company's 30,000 square foot facility in Fitzgerald, Ga., can produce as many as 18,000 packets of MANA per hour – enough to feed 1,200 starving children per day.
MANA's partnership with organizations such as UNICEF and USAID allows victims of Severe Acute Malnutrition to be fed from the Horn of Africa to Guatemala.
