Boiling Springs, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's women's tennis team, coming off its first win of the 2013 season, is scheduled for a busy week, beginning with a home match on Tuesday versus Presbyterian followed by another home match on Thursday versus Wofford and a road contest against East Carolina.

Tuesday's match versus the Blue Hose marks the 2013 Big South opener for both teams.

GWU (1-2) won for the first time this season in its last match, a 5-2 triumph over visiting Erskine College. Gardner-Webb was able to control the match from start to finish, winning both doubles matches as well as all four singles matches in which it participated.

Senior Erica White (Charleston, W.Va.) leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with a 3-0 singles record at the No. 1 slot, while freshmen Rokia Sacko (Montreal, Canada) and Valeriia Popko (St. Petersburg, Russia) have given GWU a huge boost with singles wins in consecutive matches. Both Sacko and Popko are 2-1 in singles play thus far.

In its Conference opener, Gardner-Webb will have to contend with an improved Presbyterian squad. The Blue Hose (3-3) field a deep lineup that saw No. 3 singles player Caroline DeLoach win Big South Player of the Week honors on February 12.

On Thursday, Wofford (2-2) comes to Boiling Springs for a non-conference match originally scheduled for Wednesday, February 13 but moved due to threatening weather. The Terriers are coming off wins over Savannah State and Delaware State.

GWU's third match of the week comes on the road when the Runnin' Bulldogs make the trip to Greenville, N.C. to face East Carolina. The Pirates (4-2), who advanced to the second round of the 2012 Conference USA tournament, have swept three different teams (UNC Asheville, North Carolina A&T, Winston-Salem State), 7-0, this season.

Gardner-Webb's Tuesday tilt with Presbyterian is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. Thursday's match versus Wofford is set to start at 2:00 p.m., and Saturday's match at East Carolina is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
