The Runnin' Bulldogs will open the slate at home against Furman on August 31 – the Paladins first trip to Boiling Springs since 2004. Kickoff for the opener is set for 6:00 pm in Ernest W. Spangler Stadium.
Gardner-Webb will also host Richmond (9/14), Point (Ga.) University (9/28), Liberty (10/26), Warner (Fla.) University (11/2) and Charleston Southern (11/16) in Spangler Stadium.
With those six home games and travel-friendly road trips to Wofford (9/21), Charlotte (10/5) and Presbyterian (11/23), the Runnin' Bulldogs will have nine total games within an hour and a half of campus in 2013.
The Runnin' Bulldogs kick off Big South Conference play at Coastal Carolina on October 12, one of three teams who finished ranked in the Sports Network's final top-25 poll. The Chanticleers were ranked No. 24 in the final 2012 poll, with Wofford (No. 7) and Richmond (No. 18) also posting top-25 finishes.
"This is a challenging schedule for us, but we are looking forward to the competition and taking on some of the best programs regionally and nationally," said Gardner-Webb head coach Carroll McCray. "As a fan, there are nine games within a drivable distance from campus, and six games in Spangler Stadium. That's a great thing for our program and we hope everybody will get out and see us play in 2013."
Gardner-Webb will be playing a 12-game schedule for the first time since 2003, when GWU finished with an 8-4 mark and won its second-straight Big South Conference championship.
