Charlotte, N.C. – Gardner-Webb’s women’s tennis team finished the regular season with a 3-6 Big South record to earn the No. 8 seed in next week’s Big South Women’s Tennis Championship, it was announced by the League office.

Both Radford and Gardner-Webb finished the Big South season with a 3-6 record, but the tiebreaker procedure puts the Highlanders in the No. 7 spot and the Runnin’ Bulldogs land the No. 8 seed.

The Highlanders edged the Runnin’ Bulldogs, 4-3, in Radford, Va. on April 5.

Winthrop finished the season with a 9-0 Conference record to garner the Big South Women’s Tennis Regular-Season Championship for the third consecutive year.

Charleston Southern finished second with an 8-1 record and earned the No. 2 seed.  Campbell and Liberty finished Conference play with identical 6-3 records, but in the tiebreaker procedure the Fighting Camels claimed the No. 3 seed and the Lady Flames landed the No. 4 spot.  Coastal Carolina finished fifth with a 5-4 record, while UNC Asheville garnered the No. 6 slot with a 4-5 Conference mark.

New Big South member Longwood claimed the No. 9 seed with a 1-8 mark, and Presbyterian College’s 0-9 record was good for the No. 10 position.

Gardner-Webb will help kick off day one of the 2013 Big South Women’s Tennis Championship, playing in the second match on Wednesday, April 17.
