Charlotte, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) – Gardner-Webb’s women’s track & field squad was tabbed fourth in their Big South Preseason rankings, and the Runnin’ Bulldog men were picked to finish fifth in the conference in the men’s poll, the League announced.

In the women’s poll, GWU received 62 points, two more than Campbell (60), who was picked fifth. Coastal Carolina (99) was tabbed first, while Liberty (91) was picked to finish in second place in the Big South.

Charleston Southern (75) was picked just ahead of the Runnin’ Bulldogs in third.

In the men’s poll, GWU received 40 points, just three behind Charleston Southern (43) and only two back of VMI (42), who were picked to finish in third and fourth place, respectively.

Liberty (72) received enough votes to earn the top spot in the preseason rankings on the men’s side. High Point (63) was picked to finish in the second spot in the Big South.

Gardner-Webb track & field opens the season this weekend at JDL Kick-Off. Competition at the event held in Winston-Salem, N.C. lasts all day Saturday.
