Radford, Va. - The Radford Highlanders used four home runs and took advantage of four Gardner-Webb errors to defeat the Runnin' Bulldogs 8-0 on Sunday afternoon in Big South Conference play in Radford, Va.

The Runnin' Bulldogs finish the regular season at 25-26 overall and 11-10 in Big South play, while Radford improves to 30-18 overall and 14-8 in conference play with three-conference games remaining on their slate.

The GWU offense, which stalled in game two yesterday afternoon, struggled as well on Sunday, as the Runnin' Bulldogs put only two runners on base safely over the first two innings, both of which came on walks.

Radford took advantage, as the Highlanders took the lead in the top of the second on a solo home run off the bat of Jessie Hutchens. Jackie Warr would score on a GWU throwing error later on in the inning to put the home team in front by two at 2-0 after two innings of play.

Sophomore Samantha Meenaghan picked up GWU's first hit of the game, a single up the middle in the top of the third.  After second-baseman Jordyn Arrowood drew her second walk of the game to put runners on first and second with one out, the next two Runnin' Bulldog batters grounded into a fielder's choice and line out to second to end the inning.

The Highlanders used the long ball again in the bottom of the third to add to their lead, as Nichole Beall homered to center field and Vicki Madden hit a solo shot to left field to put the home team in front 4-0 through three innings of play.

Radford added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the sixth to defeat the Runnin' Bulldogs 8-0 in six innings.

Gardner-Webb's Jessica Childers (8-12) was handed the loss, as the sophomore gave up four runs, three of which were earned, on four hits and one strikeout over the first 2.1 innings of the contest.

Radford's Jackie Jenkins (14-8) earned the win in a relief effort, as she held GWU to no runs on only two hits over the final 3.2 innings of play.

Meenaghan, who leads the League in hitting this season, was 2-for-3 for the game, while the lone other hit came off the bat of Arrowood, who was 1-for-1 with two base-on-balls.

For Radford, Hutchens (2-for-3), Madden (1-for-3), Beall (1-for-3) and Morgan Eye (1-for-2, 3 RBI) all accounted for a home run in the game.

With the Runnin' Bulldogs regular season coming to an end, head coach Tom Cole and his squad will have a week and a half to prepare for the upcoming 2012 Big South Softball Championships, which will be held on May 10-12th in Radford, Va.
