Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's Ernest Alberch (Torello, Spain) has been named The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for matches played Jan. 30-Feb. 5, it was announced by the League office today.
Alberch won at the No. 4 singles position last weekend, outlasting UNC Greensboro's Randy Phillips, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (10-8). He is an even 2-2 for the season, posting wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions.
Alberch and the Runnin' Bulldogs' men's tennis team host Lees-McRae today in a match at 2:30 pm.
