CLINTON, S.C. - Gardner-Webb got its offense in high gear Sunday afternoon under rainy skies, pounding out 18 hits en route to a 12-3 win over Presbyterian.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (28-24, 10-11 Big South) scored three runs in the second, five in the seventh and four in the eighth to account for its run total. The Blue Hose (22-29, 9-12 Big South) collected one run in the fourth and two in the eighth in its home finale.

Gardner-Webb collected four hits to spark its three-run burst in the second, getting a leadoff double from Brad Collins to start things. Adam McFarland followed with an RBI single and Benji Jackson singled with one out to put two on board. Zeke Blanton then drove in a run with a single through the right side and Ryan Hodge plated the inning's third run with a sacrifice fly before the Blue Hose could retire the side.

Presbyterian took advantage of an error and a wild pitch to get its run in the fourth and the score remained 3-1 until Gardner-Webb put the game away with its big seventh inning. Scott Coleman started that charge with a double to left and moved to third on a Dusty Quattlebaum single. Collins then singled home Coleman with a single and McFarland singled to load the bases.

A fielder's choice RBI by Rundio pushed the lead to 5-1, with an error on the play keeping the bases loaded. Jackson then made the score 6-1 when he was hit by a pitch and Blanton capped the rally with a two-run single to right. Presbyterian kept the lead at 8-1 with a call to the bullpen and a line drive double play to limit the damage. GWU sent nine men to the plate in the seventh.

More offense was in store for the 'Dogs in the eighth, with Coleman again leading off the inning with a double. Quattlebaum was hit by a pitch and after Presbyterian got the first out, McFarland singled through the left side to load the sacks. Rundio then belted a two-run double to right to make the score 10-1 and - after another PC pitching change - Jackson ripped a two-run single to right center for Gardner-Webb's final tallies of the day.

Presbyterian closed to within its final deficit with an RBI groundout and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth.

Beau Hilton (5-3) was magnificent on the mound for Gardner-Webb to get the win, not allowing an earned run in 6.0 innings of work. The Jacksonville, Fla., freshman scattered five hits and struck out six. Mitch Warner and Matt Liedberg closed out the game for the Runnin' Bulldogs.

McFarland (4-for-5, 3 runs, RBI), Blanton (3-for-5, 3 RBI), Coleman (3-for-4, 2 runs), Collins (2-for-5, RBI) and Jackson (2-for-4, 3 RBI) each had multiple hits for the 'Dogs, and all nine starters collected at least one hit in the game.

Coleman has now reached base in 25 consecutive games, raising his batting average to .311 in the process.

Presbyterian's Beau Dees (3-7) took the loss, allowing 11 hits and five runs in 6.0 innings (three strikeouts).

The Blue Hose managed eight hits on Sunday, with Gabe Grammer (3-for-5) pacing that performance.

Gardner-Webb will step out of conference one last time on Tuesday, traveling to play at Appalachian State. GWU will then close out the regular season at UNC Asheville next weekend.
