BOILING SPRINGS - Gardner-Webb announced its 2011-2012 men's basketball schedule, with 13 home games set for the upcoming season.

The Runnin' Bulldogs will continue its traditionally difficult out-of-conference schedule, with a road date against two-time national runner up Butler (11/23) in legendary Hinkle Fieldhouse on tap. GWU will tangle with Clemson in the season opener (11/11) and will also play Indiana (11/21), Wake Forest (12/18) and East Carolina (12/22).

"This is the first schedule our staff has had the opportunity to assemble and we are excited about it," said second-year head coach Chris Holtmann. "I appreciate the fact that it is very difficult and will test our young team early – both in the level of competition and the number of games away from Paul Porter Arena with seven of our first eight games on the road.

"If we can grow as a team through those first few challenging weeks than I think we will really benefit in December and onto Big South Conference play."

Gardner-Webb will play its first home game on November 16 against Lees-McRae, but won't return home again until it opens Big South Conference play against league favorite UNC Asheville on December 1.  That will start a four-game home stand that also features games against Winthrop (12/3), Alice Lloyd College (12/6) and South Carolina State (12/10).

The Runnin' Bulldogs will also play at South Carolina State (11/19) as part of a home-and-home series this season, as well as taking on Chattanooga (11/26) and Savannah State (11/27) as part of a tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn. GWU will travel to face former Atlantic Sun Conference foe Lipscomb in mid-November.

Gardner-Webb will participate in the ESPN Bracketbusters event again in 2011-2012, hosting a game against a to be determined opponent on February 18 in Boiling Springs. The 'Dogs will get a return game from Tennessee Tech in the 2012-2013 season, following last year's Bracketbusters trip to Cookeville, Tenn.
