Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's basketball program, in conjunction with head coach Rick Reeves, is pleased to announce its 2011-12 schedule, which includes a trip to Freeport Grand, Bahamas where the Runnin' Bulldogs will compete against Duke and either Notre Dame or Southern California at the 2011 Bahamas Junkanoo Jam over the Thanksgiving Break in late November.

"I feel our schedule is not only one of the most challenging schedules I have had over my entire career, but it is perhaps probably one of the most difficult schedules that a Big South conference school has ever had as well," commented Coach Reeves.  "Having graduated four seniors, which were key players in our program, and returning only four players that saw significant minutes last seeing, we feel like for us to contend for the conference championship come March, we needed to throw our young team, which has six new players and 10 underclassman on the roster, into the deep end of the pool early. We wanted to challenge our young team before Christmas, so that come March will be challenging once again for the conference championship and the Big South's automatic NCAA Tournament bid."

The Runnin' Bulldogs will tip-off its 2011-12 slate with a road contest at North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C. on November 12th, marking it the third straight season in which the two teams have met on the hardwood.

Gardner-Webb will then open up its home schedule the following week, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will host Kennesaw State at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15th, and Appalachian State at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, November 19th.

Coach Reeves' squad will then travel to Davidson, N.C. to do battle with the Davidson Wildcats on November 21st, before leaving the country and heading to the Bahamas for the 2011 Junkanoo Jam in Freeport.  There the Runnin' Bulldogs will take on the Duke Blue Devils in the first game on November 25th and will then either face off with Notre Dame or Southern California on November 26th.

GWU will return home and tip-off the month of December with a home contest versus Wofford as part of a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 3rd, before hitting the road for the rest of the month.

The next five games will come on the road for the Runnin' Bulldogs, as GWU will take on Big East member Louisville on Saturday, December 10th, Lipscomb at 2 p.m. central time on Sunday, December 18th, and North Carolina Central at 6 p.m. on December 28th.

The Big South Conference regular season will begin in late December, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will travel to Buies Creek, N.C. to take on new Big South member Campbell University at 5 p.m. on December 30th.

Gardner-Webb will remain on the road for its next match up, taking on the High Point Panthers in High Point, N.C. on January 2nd.

GWU will then return home to host Charleston Southern at 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 7th, and Coastal Carolina at 7 p.m. on Monday, January 9th, before again hitting the road for a three-game stretch, which includes conference bouts at Presbyterian (January 14th), Winthrop (January 16th) and Asheville (January 21st).

On Saturday, January 28th, the Runnin' Bulldogs will return home to host Radford at 5 p.m., again as part of a doubleheader with the men's basketball team, and then welcomes the Liberty Lady Flames to Paul Porter Arena on Monday, January 30th, for a 7 p.m. tip-off.

After back-to-back road contests against conference foes Coastal Carolina (February 4th) and Charleston Southern (February 6th), the GWU women's basketball team will return home for a three-game home stand, its longest stretch of home games on the year.

In the home stand, the Runnin' Bulldogs will host Winthrop at 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 11th, Presbyterian at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 13th, and Asheville at 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 18th.

GWU will then step out of conference play to take on Longwood on Monday, February 20th, at 7 p.m. in Farmville, Va., before wrapping up its road schedule with games at Liberty on February 25th and at Radford on Monday, February 27th.

Gardner-Webb will wrap up its 2011-12 regular season slate at home with contests versus High Point at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 2nd, and Campbell at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 5th.

The 2012 Big South Women's Basketball Championship Tournament will be held from March 9-11th in High Point, N.C., as the Runnin' Bulldogs will not only look to make it back-to-back tournament championship wins, but will also look to get back to the championship title game for the fourth-straight year.
