Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's basketball program, in conjunction with head coach Rick Reeves, is pleased to announce its 2011-12 schedule, which includes a trip to Freeport Grand, Bahamas where the Runnin' Bulldogs will compete against Duke and either Notre Dame or Southern California at the 2011 Bahamas Junkanoo Jam over the Thanksgiving Break in late November.
"I feel our schedule is not only one of the most challenging schedules I have had over my entire career, but it is perhaps probably one of the most difficult schedules that a Big South conference school has ever had as well," commented Coach Reeves. "Having graduated four seniors, which were key players in our program, and returning only four players that saw significant minutes last seeing, we feel like for us to contend for the conference championship come March, we needed to throw our young team, which has six new players and 10 underclassman on the roster, into the deep end of the pool early. We wanted to challenge our young team before Christmas, so that come March will be challenging once again for the conference championship and the Big South's automatic NCAA Tournament bid."
The Runnin' Bulldogs will tip-off its 2011-12 slate with a road contest at North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C. on November 12th, marking it the third straight season in which the two teams have met on the hardwood.
