Rock Hill, S.C. - Senior Ann Marie Howell achieved a personal best and school record height of 3.82 m in the Pole Vault and was one of three Gardner-Webb track & field athletes to win individual events at the Winthrop Twilight meet on Sunday.
Howell (Mooreville, Miss.), who earned first place honors in the Pole Vault on Sunday, had set her previous personal best at 3.80 m earlier this season.
Katy Milton (Monroe, N.C.) also had a fantastic weekend, finishing 1st in the Women's 200 m Dash. The senior followed with a 7th place performance in the 100 m Dash, racing to a time of 11.70 in the event.
The Gardner-Webb women's track and field squad saw two achieve top tier finishes in the 800 m Run, led by junior Ivana Hughes' (Evans, Ga.) 2nd place finish in a personal best 2:12.78. Senior Cherish Richardson (Augusta, Ga.) was 4th fastest, finishing with a time of 2:25.89.
Milton added a 7th place finish in the Women's 100 m Dash, sprinting to a time of 12.70 in the event.
Fellow senior Sarah Herd (Cherryville, N.C.) tied for 1st place in the Women's High Jump with a height of 1.65 m.
Elisabeth Sawyer (Charlotte, N.C.) finished the 1500 m Run in 4:57.35. The senior's performance was 2nd best in the event.
Three Gardner-Webb men achieved 2nd place finishes in their respective events.
Sophomore Drew Ford (Wasilla, Alaska) took 2nd in the Men's 3000 m Steeplechase, recording a time of 10:52.13 in the event.
Sophomore Trey Crook (Lexington, N.C.) led the Runnin' Bulldog men in the 1500 m Run and finished 2nd in a time of 4:14.25. Another GWU sophomore, Mike McClay (Douglassville, Ga.), followed closely in 3rd (4:14.33), and sophomore Justin Loy (Burrington, N.H.) finished 4th in 4:23.36.
In the 800 m Run, junior Josiah Stanton-Brooks (Seattle, Wash.) ran to a 2nd place finish with a time of 1:53.73.
