Boiling Springs, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's men's swim team has
been honored on the CSCAA's list of Scholar All-America teams after compiling a
3.20 GPA during the 2011 spring semester. The Runnin' Bulldogs' spring mark was
tied for 18th best in Division 1 this spring.
In addition, GWU had several athletes honored at
Gardner-Webb's end of year Academic Awards banquet.
"Once again, our swimmers performed in the classroom as well
as in the pool this semester," said head coach Mike Simpson. "It's always great
when your team can be in the top ranking in the nation. That was a nice end to
a fantastic season of fast swimming all year and academic and community
accomplishments announced this spring. We are proud of the nine individuals
that were honored at the GWU Academic/Service Awards: Brianna Bleymaier, George
Partin, Rachel Warkentin, Tory Bryant, Michelle Palacio, Elizabeth Charter,
Sarah Stokes, Matt Leonard, and Sarah Steadman."
The Runnin' Bulldogs begin their 2011-2012 season Sep. 24 at
Moss Lake, N.C.
