Boiling Springs, N.C.
- The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team will hit the road once more this
weekend, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will travel to Lexington, Va. to face off with
the Keydets of VMI this Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
Gardner-Webb (5-6-2, 2-2 Big South) has posted two straight Big
South Conference wins and will be looking to make it three in a row on Saturday
afternoon. The Runnin' Bulldogs
are coming off a 2-1 road win over Presbyterian College and a 3-1 home victory
over the Liberty Flames last Saturday.
The Runnin' Bulldogs, who are 3-2-0 versus the VMI Keydets
all-time, will also be looking to make it two wins in a row over the Keydets
having shutout VMI 2-0 last year in Boiling Springs, N.C.
GWU's offense has been coming from an assortment of players,
as nine different players have accounted for at least one goal on the season
thus far, with sophomore Chris Davis leading the way with a team-high four
goals.
While Gardner-Webb is a perfect 2-0 at home this season, the
Runnin' Bulldogs are only 1-5 in true road matches this season with the lone
win coming last week at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C.
VMI (1-10-1, 1-3 Big South), who is coming off a 4-1 Big
South Conference road loss to the Radford Highlanders on Wednesday night, have
lost three straight matches.
The Keydets, who are 1-4-1 in home matches thus far this
season, have struggled overall, having posted only one win on the year, a 2-1
home win over UNC Asheville back on September 25th.
