Atlanta, Ga. - Charity Byrum, Collin Burchins, Drew Ellwanger, and Jordan Denmark competed with some of the world's best on Friday at the 2011 Winter National Championship meet, hosted by the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Byrum swam the 100 m BR, touching the wall at 1:15.13. The freshman from Winston-Salem, N.C. currently holds the CCSA's second fastest time in the 100 yd. BR at 1:03.65.
Ellwanger and Burchins also competed in the 100 m BR on Friday. Ellwanger, who possesses the CCSA's top time in the 100 yd. BR this season at 56.71, finished in 1:05.91. Burchins, a senior from Lilburn, Ga., touched in at 1:09.00.
Ellwanger bettered his time on Saturday, swimming the 100 m BR in 1:05.7.
Denmark, a sophomore from Raleigh, N.C., swam the 100 m BK, finishing with a time of 1:00.13. The second year GWU swimmer is currently fourth in the CCSA in the 100 yd. BK (51.92).
Denmark also competed in the 200 m BK, finishing in 2:09.00. He is second in the CCSA in the 200 yd. BK this this season.
Gardner-Webb will resume competition after the Christmas break.
