Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb softball team will return to action this week, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will hit the road to take on both Presbyterian College and Coastal Carolina in Big South Conference action.

GWU is scheduled for a single game on Wednesday, March 28th, at 3 p.m. in Clinton, S.C. against the PC Blue Hose and will then take on Coastal Carolina in a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday, March 31st and April 1st, with play starting at 1 p.m. on both days in Conway, S.C.

The Runnin' Bulldogs are off to a slow start in conference play, as GWU was swept by the Liberty Lady Flames last weekend, dropping them to 0-3 in the Big South after opening weekend.

GWU is 13-18 overall and 4-5 in true road contests this season, as their next four games come on the road in conference play. The Runnin' Bulldogs have dropped four of their last five games and are looking to get back on the winning track this week.

Samantha Meenaghan leads the way offensively for GWU, as she is hitting a team-high .411 on the season, including a team-high 39 hits and 15 runs scored.

Freshman Amanda Gomes has had the hot bat as of late, as she is in the middle of a four-game hitting streak, which has included two home runs and a triple.

The Presbyterian College Blue Hose are 8-18 overall and 0-3 thus far in conference play this season, having lost three straight conference home games to Coastal Carolina last weekend.

The Blue Hose are 3-4 at home this season, yet are in the midst of a six-game losing streak.

Presbyterian is led by Shelby Petik, who is hitting an even .300 on the season with a team-high 21 hits over 26 games, while Leslie Hensley leads the team with three home runs and 10 RBI.

Coastal Carolina has been a bit of a surprise this season, as the Lady Chanticleers are 26-9 overall and 3-0 in Big South Conference play heading into play this week.

Coastal, who will hosts Charleston Southern on Wednesday, March 28th, is 17-3 at home thus far this season including wins over George Washington, George Mason, Georgia Southern, Marshall, Temple, and South Carolina.

The Chanticleers have won each of their last four games, all of which came on the road.

CCU is led by three players in Kory Hayden (.407), Sarah Maples (.314) and Kiana Quolas (.310) who all are hitting over .300 on the season and have combined for 12 home runs, 59 RBI, 13 doubles and a total of 96 hits between the three of them.
