HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Big South Conference recognized Gardner-Webb president Dr. Frank Bonner Thursday night as part of its annual Spring Meetings Awards and Hall of Fame dinner.
Bonner was honored by the league for his four years of service as the Big South Conference’s president. The awards dinner was held in conjunction with the Big South’s annual Spring Meetings at the Marriott Resort on Hilton Head Island.
The Big South Conference president traditionally serves a two-year term, with Bonner agreeing to consecutive terms from 2013-2014 through 2016-2017.
Bonner will be succeeded by UNC Asheville Chancellor Mary Grant. The Spring Meetings concluded Friday with the annual CEO Session.
Bonner has been a part of the Gardner-Webb family since 1987, when he came to Boiling Springs, N.C., as Vice President for Academic Affairs. He also served as Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs and then Provost and Senior Vice President.
Bonner was named President of Gardner-Webb University in May 2005 and took office on July 1.
