LEXINGTON, S.C. – Gardner-Webb placed two men on the 2017 All-Big South Conference Baseball first team, as announced tonight by the league office.
Sullivan has flashed power at the plate all throughout the season, belting 16 home runs, which leads the Big South and is tied for the most in single season in Gardner-Webb history. He also leads the league in slugging percentage at .616.
The senior outfielder also leads the Runnin' Bulldogs in on-base percentage (.415), runs scored (37), and walks (29).
Thacker has been solid at the plate for Gardner-Webb all season, batting a team-high .349, which ranks second in the Big South. His team-high 73 hits also ranks second in the conference.
The senior infielder leads GWU with 42 RBI and 13 doubles. He has also been solid defensively, posting a .988 fielding percentage for the year, seeing time at first base, second base, and third base, and has a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in Big South games.
Sullivan was also named to the Big South Baseball All-Academic team. A computer science major, Sullivan recently earned his degree from Gardner-Webb with a 3.71 overall GPA.
Gardner-Webb begins the 2017 Big South Conference Baseball Championship on Tuesday morning at 9:30 am, taking on Liberty at Lexington County Baseball Stadium in Lexington, S.C. The game will air live on the Big South Network (www.bigsouthsports.com).
