Gardner-Webb Golfers Vincent Blanchette and Elki Kow Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. – Gardner-Webb men's golfers Vincent Blanchette and Elki Kow were among the 212 golfers named to the 2016 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars list at the NCAA Division I level.

The scholars are presented by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent or his team's competitive rounds and have a stroke average under 76.0 in Division I. Those individuals must also maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA, be of high moral character and in good standing at his college or university.

Blanchette (Saint Jean, Quebec) carries a 3.49 cumulative GPA in business administration heading into his senior season. He had a season stroke average of 75.03 for 2015-2016, with six top-20 finishes spanning the fall and spring seasons.

Blanchette captured medalist honors in Spartanburg, S.C., on April 12, firing a final three sub-70 rounds to win the Coca-Cola Invitational. He shot a low round of 65 on the second day and finished at 202 for the tournament. His efforts led Gardner-Webb to the team title as well.

Blanchette finished 18th at the 2016 Big South Conference Championships later in the spring.

Now (Jakarta, Indonesia) carries a 3.58 cumulative GPA heading into his final year with the Runnin' Bulldogs. He redshirted in 2014-2015, but came back with a solid junior campaign.

Kow carded a season stroke average of 74.30 in 2015-2016, playing in eight tournaments. His best finish was ninth at the 2016 Davidson Invitational. He took 19th in the fall opener at the Golfweek Program Challenge, firing a pair of sub-70 rounds.
