Gardner-Webb Men's Tennis Works Through Busy Weekend at Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's tennis picked up valuable experience at the 2016 Davidson Invitational over the weekend.

The three-day event saw Paul Hogan and Stefano Puga excelled in doubles action, picking up several wins. The duo posted wins over Davidson, UNC Asheville, Campbell and USC Upstate in a solid overall weekend effort.

Anthony Brennan highlighted singles play with a pair of three-set wins. Brennan transferred to GWU from Pfeiffer this past summer.

Gardner-Webb went deep into its bench for much of the weekend in singles play

"My main focus for this tournament was seeing others play who I hadn't been able to see in action so far this fall and to work on our doubles performance," said head coach Mike Griffith. "Paul and Stefano played well and overall this event was very good for us. We were very competitive across the board."

Next up for the Runnin' Bulldogs are the ITA Regionals in Cary, N.C., on October 14. Participating for Gardner-Webb in that event will be Maximillian Scholl and Paul Hogan.
