Gardner-Webb's Max Scholl Named Big South Men's Tennis Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE – Gardner-Webb Maximillian Scholl was named Big South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday afternoon after a series of sensational performances.

Scholl (Stuttgart, Germany) tallied a pair of wins at No. 1 singles last week, defeating Wofford's Haris Poric by a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 score and UNC Wilmington's Augstin Savarino in straight sets – 7-5 and 6-3.

He also teamed up with Paul Hogan in a decisive doubles win at UNC Wilmington by a score of 7-6 (7-2) – helping GWU clinch the doubles point against the Seahawks.

Scholl, the 2016 Big South Freshman of the Year, ranks third in the Big South at No. 1 singles with a 2-1 mark so far.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (0-3) will be back in action on Friday, February 10, against Limestone in the 2017 home opener. Match time is set for 2:00 pm in Boiling Springs.
