BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb fell on its home courts Sunday afternoon to UNC Greensboro by a 5-2 score in non-conference men's tennis action.

Ross Gilbert and Michael Perry teamed up at No. 3 doubles to top Logan Walker and Warren Bryan, battling hard in a 7-6 (7-0) match.

After UNC Greensboro's Marcus Vidgren captured a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles to put the Spartans up 2-0, Gilbert pulled Gardner-Webb within one team point with a victory at No. 6 singles. The freshman standout took a 6-3, 6-3 win over Ian Melnik to cap off a strong day individually.

Greensboro captured a 7-6 (2-0), 6-3 win at No. 4 singles to go up 3-1 and clinched the victory when Connor Thompson outlasted Maximilian Scholl by a 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 score at No. 1 singles.
