CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb sophomore Maximilian Scholl was named Big South Conference men's tennis Player of the Week on Monday, his second weekly honor in a row.

Scholl (Stuttgart, Germany) continued his stellar play at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles, posting a combined 6-0 mark (4-0 Big South) in those two flights.

The sophomore and reigning Big South Conference Freshman of the Year opened with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over Winthrop's Diego Quiroz on Monday and swept a pair of singles matches on Saturday – winning in straight sets twice.

His Saturday morning consisted of a 6-1, 6-1 win over Belmont Abbey's Juan Baez and he continued with a dominant 6-3, 6-4 win over Longwood – helping key a 4-3 team win over the Lancers in an important match late in the Big South regular season.

Scholl also teamed with Breno Plentz as an effective doubles tandem, as the pair went 3-0 with wins of 6-4 (Winthrop) and 6-1 (Longwood) in league play.

Scholl is now 17-3 on the season at No. singles, with a 6-1 mark against Big South Conference foes. He has won eight singles matches in a row and is 9-1 over his last 10. Scholl is 12-9 combined in doubles action, with a 5-1 mark when teamed with current partner Plentz.

Gardner-Webb will take on Appalachian State Monday afternoon at 2:00 pm before beginning prep for the upcoming Big South Conference Championships.
