Gardner-Webb Swim Teams Each Take Second At 2016 Fall Frenzy Invitational

CHARLOTTE – Gardner-Webb women's swimming captured second place at the three-day Fall Frenzy Invitational, scoring 1,656 team points to finish nearly 300 points in front of third-place UNC Asheville. The GWU men's squad also took second, scoring 1,345 team points for the event.

Women's Meet Highlights (Finals)
« London Schumacher won the women's 400 IM finals with a time of 4:19.60, more than 10 seconds better than her preliminary time. She finished the race nearly eight seconds in front of her closest competitor. Spencer Lucas (4:29.14) finished third in the event.

« Gardner-Webb took second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:34.84. The team was made up of Kelsey Williams, Lili Toth, Mackenzie Ropka and Alina Gersib.

« Lauren Oglesby touched the wall in third place in the 500 free race, just more than a second off the first-place pace.

« London Schumacher finished second in the women's 200 IM finals (2:03.90), beating her prelim time by nearly two seconds.

« GWU finished second in the 400 medley relay with a team of Lara Siebrecht, Whitney Peters, Tessa Walsh and Lili Toth (3:50.11)

« The 200 medley relay team of Siebrecht, Peterson, Walsh and Williams finished third (1:46.33)

« Siebrecht finished second in the 100 back final with a time of 55.91, topping her prelim time (56.62) from earlier in the weekend. Her prelim time was the best of the weekend heading into finals.

« The women's 800 free relay team of Toth, Siebrecht, Williams and Blake Broullire took third with a time of 7:37.06.

« Oglesby won the 1,650 free finals with a time of 16:49.48 in the grueling race. She beat the field by nearly 14 seconds.

« Siebrecht took third in the women's 200 back finals (2:01.67).

« Williams finished third in the women's 100 free finals (52.06).

« Schumacher also won the women's 200 fly finals (2:02.20), beating her prelims time by nearly three seconds.

« The quartet of Toth, Williams, Ropka and Broullire took second in the 400 free relay (3:29.35).

Men's Meet Highlights (Finals)
« The 200 medley relay team of Connor Bos, Jordan Mintz, Andrew Knudson and Andrew Linzie finished second (1:32.49)

« Hal McKay finished third in the men's 200 free final (1:41.54).

« Peter Wakeley continued his strong early-season effort in the distance events, finishing third in the en's 1,650 free race (16:01.78).

« Mason Hutchinson took third in the men's 200 fly finals (1:52.76), bettering his preliminary time by more than a full second.

Gardner-Webb Swimming will be back in action November 30th thru December 3rd at the USA Winter Nationals in Atlanta Georgia.
