Gardner-Webb Swimmers Wrap Up Action At 2016 AT&T Winter Nationals Friday Night

ATLANTA, Ga. – London Schumacher advanced to the finals of the 400 IM Friday to lead a quintet of Gardner-Webb swimmers participating in the 2016 AT&T Winter Nationals.

Connor Bos and Jason Smith represented the Runnin' Bulldogs on the men's side, with Schumacher, Whitney Peters and Lili Toth swimming on the women's side.

Bos, Smith, Peters and Toth each posted season-best times on Friday as well.

Bos swam in two events, qualifying for the 50 free and 100 back. The Holland, Mich., veteran finished 29th in both preliminary races, touching with a time of 20.93 seconds. in the 50 free and 49.74 seconds in the 100 back.

Smith took swam a time of 51.50 seconds in the 100 back prelims to post the 46th-fastest time of the day.

Peters swam a time of 1:04.91 in the 100 breast prelims (55th) and Toth finished just ahead with a time of 1:04.38 (47th).

Schumacher had the 16th fastest time in the 400 IM prelims, finishing with a time of 4:19.38 to advance to Friday's finals – finishing with an NCAA "B" cut time in the process. She took seventh in the B Finals race, bettering her time by touching the wall in 4:18.36 – more than a second faster than her preliminary race.

Gardner-Webb will take its annual training break until January, returning home to host Wingate on Senior Day – January 13 – on campus. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM. The meet is the final home event for Gardner-Webb swimming this season.
