Women's Swimming Defeats Wingate, 103-102; Men's Swimming Ties Wingate 102.5-102.5 Friday Evening

RESULTS

BOILING SPRINGS – The Gardner-Webb women's swim team took a narrow 103-102 decision, while the men earned a 102.5-102.5 tie, as both squads faced off against Wingate on Friday evening.


WOMEN'S MEET
Gardner-Webb 103, Wingate 102

Highlights

-       London Schumacher placed first in the 400 IM, setting a new pool record with a time of 4:29.58.
-       Carol Zangla timed in fastest in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:57.18.  Blake Broullire placed second at 1:57.51.
-       Alina Gersib finished first in the 50 free with a time of 24.80.
-       Lili Toth placed first in the 200 IM, timing in at 2:10.61.
-       GWU took the top three spots in the 500 free as Spencer Lucas (5:09.20) placed first, followed by Lauren Oglesby (5:10.69), and Miranda Johns (5:19.12).

MEN'S MEET
Gardner-Webb 102.5, Wingate 102.5

Highlights

-       Connor Bos claimed first place in the 50 free, timing in at 21.70
-       Mason Hutchinson earned a first place finish in the 200 fly, clocking in at 1:57.07.
-       In the 100 free, Zach Dingfield placed first with a time of 46.84, followed by Hal McKay at 47.95.
-       Jordan Mintz took the 200 breast with a time of 2:07.14, followed by Elliott Gayken at 2:07.39.

SENIOR DAY

Prior to the dual meet, the Gardner-Webb swim team recognized seniors Connor Bos, John "Peaches" Hanson, Adel Kiss, Andrew Linzie, and Hal McKay, as well as manager Preston Rodeniser.

UP NEXT

Both squads will take on UNC Wilmington and UNC Asheville on Saturday, January 21st in Wilmington, N.C.  Action is set to begin at 11:00 am.
