BOILING SPRINGS – Men's swimmer Connor Bos was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District III At-Large Team Thursday afternoon, marking the third-straight season a Gardner-Webb swimmer has earned that honor.
Bos (Holland, Mich. / Holland HS) earned the nod on the strength of a 4.00 cumulative GPA in his major of business (finance & economics).
District III covers Division I schools located in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The At-Large sports' category is made up of swimming, wrestling, tennis, lacrosse, volleyball, golf, fencing, ice hockey, gymnastics, skiing and water polo.
Bos was earlier named 2017 CCSA (Coastal Collegiate Sports Association) Men's Swimming Scholar-Athlete of the Year, capping an excellent season – and career – in the pool and in the classroom.
The senior standout swam to conference titles in the 100 back (47.61) individually and as a member of the 200 medley relay team (1:27.66) at the Conference Championships in Athens, Ga. Those titles added to a significant list for Bos, who ended his career with 14 different CCSA championships – eight individual and six relays.
In addition, Bos has earned All-CCSA honors 17 different times during his four-year career in Boiling Springs.
In 2016, Bos earned a spot in the U.S. Olympic Trials, representing Gardner-Webb on the sport's biggest national stage in Omaha, Nebraska.
Bos' selection to the Division I Academic All-District III At-Large Team means he will now be on the ballot for Academic All-America honors later this year.
