WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Marcus Abraham set a new school record in the men's shot put and Kayin Mujahid placed first in the women's high jump as Gardner-Webb placed 16 student-athletes in the top ten at the season opening JDL College Kick-Off Classic this past weekend.
Abraham finished second in the shot put with a distance of 17.32 meters, setting a new school record in the process. He also placed seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 15.46 meters, which was also a new personal record.
Mujahid finished with a tie for first place in the high jump, posting a mark of 1.70 meters which tied her personal record.
In the women's 60 meter race, Jordan Davis clocked in at 8.05 to set a new personal record, placing 26th overall.
Gardner-Webb posted a pair of top ten finishes in each of the 3000 meter races as Christopher Lile placed seventh at 9:05.37 and Keaton Poole placed ninth at 9:08.98 on the men's side, while Claire Cates finished ninth at 10:55.58 and Gabby Cortese clocked in at 10.56.06 to finish tenth on the women's side. Both Lile and Poole set new PRs in the event, as well as Ezekiel Martin who clockd in at 9:42.35.
Seaver Wait earned a top ten spot in the men's high jump, posting a mark of 1.90, while Nick Bandos placed fourth in the men's pole vault a 4.3 meters and Jalin Lawson finished fourth in the men's long jump with a distance of 7.05 meters, setting a new personal record.
Also posting top ten finishes in the men's shot put and weight throw was A.J. White, who places seventh in the shot put with a distance of 15.71 meters, and tenth in the weight throw with a toss of 13.66 meters.
