Several Top Finishes Highlight Performance at VertKlasse Meeting

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition at the VertKlasse Meeting at Vert Stadium, turning in a host of impressive finishes on both sides.

Gardner-Webb took the top-two spots in the men's shot put, as A.J. White finished first with a throw of 16.00 meters, followed by Marcus Abraham in second at 15.88 meters.

The pair also earned top-ten finishes in the men's discus throw as Abraham finished fourth overall with a throw of 49.21 meters, setting a new personal record, besting his previous PR of 46.82 meters set at the 2016 Mountaineer Open.  White placed ninth with a throw of 46.63 meters.

White also finished sixteenth in the hammer throw at 46.43 meters.

In the women's pole vault, Elise Moffatt finished in sixth-place at 3.70 meters.

Natasha Akbarizadeh
and Petra Jakeljic each earned top-five finishesin the women's hammer throw, with Akbarizadeh placing third with a throw of 57.37 meters, and Jakejlic finished fifth at 55.28 meters.  Cailen Blaire placed eleventh in the event at 47.61 meters.

In the women's javelin throw, Merideth Byl earned a fourteenth-place finish with a distance of 32.39 meters.

Paige Peterson and Ashleigh Cleveland tied for seventeenth in the women's high jump at 1.43 meters. 

Seaver Wait finished fifteenth overall in the men's high jump at 1.89 meters. 

Josh Parks placed twentieth in the men's 800-meter run, clocking in at 1:57.91. 

Carlos Williams timed in at 22.38 seconds in the 200-meter dash, earning a 28th place finish.

In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Christopher Lile placed thirteenth with a time of 10:05.42, with Ezekiel Martin finishing in seventeen, timing in at 10:27.68. 

Jenna Ford placed eighteenth in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:53.37.

Additional personal records were set by Rachel White in the women's 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:27.38, Michaela Williams in the women's 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:59.33, and Amy Turlington in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.29.

Next up for the Runnin' Bulldogs is the Charlotte Invitational on April 14-15.
