BOILING SPRINGS – Chattanooga picked up wins in seven weight classes Friday night, including the final three to seal a 26-12 win over Gardner-Webb in Paul Porter Arena.

The Mocs (6-8, 4-1 SoCon) got off to a quick start with back-to-back decisions at 125 and 133 pounds. Alonzo Allen took a 13-6 win over Landon LoAlbo, with LoAlbo fighting hard late in the bout to avoid bonus points.

Chris Dieben followed with a 6-2 win over Philip Anderson to push Chattanooga to a 6-0 team lead. At 141 pounds Chase Zemenak went to work midway through the first period and pulled off a series of four-point near falls to record a 16-0 tech fall in 3:16 – giving the Mocs an 11-0 advantage after three bouts.

Chris Vassar improved to 19-7 on the season at 149 pounds to stem the tide, rallying late with a four-point near fall with less than 30 seconds remaining to capture a 9-1 major decision over Roman Boyles.

Ryan Mosley followed with bonus points for Gardner-Webb (5-8, 2-4 SoCon) at 157 pounds, taking an early 10-1 lead and cruising to a 17-1 tech fall win in 3:32 over Dalton Clark. That victory trimmed Chattanooga's lead to 11-9, setting the stage for a critical matchup at 165 pounds.

Chattanooga picked up a decision that turned the tide back in its favor, with Justin Lampe outlasting Tyler Marinelli for a 7-3 decision.

Austin Trott pushed his record to 18-3 with a 6-4 decision over Sean Mappes at 174 pounds, rallying from an early deficit to get the win. The Kingsland, Ga., senior pulled off a reversal in the first period to tie the score and took the lead soon after.

Trailing 14-12 with three bouts remaining on the card, Gardner-Webb turned to veteran Hunter Gamble in a rematch with No. 19 Bryce Carr 184 pounds. Carr picked up a win in the first meeting to finish third at the 2017 Southern Scuffle in January.

In the rematch, Carr got an early takedown and was able to fend off Gamble for a 4-2 decision that dampened Gardner-Webb's momentum.

Clay Dent sealed the team victory for Chattanooga with a 10-5 decision over Kyle Ash at 197 pounds and No. 9 Jared Johnson capped the night with a pin in 2:29 at 285 pounds.

Gardner-Webb will be back in action next Friday night, hosting North Carolina at 7:00 pm in Paul Porter Arena.
