BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb's women's soccer program announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Thursday afternoon.
The Runnin' Bulldogs added midfielder Isabel Eigenbauer (Dacula, Ga. / Mill Creek HS), center midfielder Aubrie Jackson (Spotsylvania, Va. / Spotsylvania HS), defender Emily Jonas (Hicksville, N.Y. / Hicksville HS) and versatile forward/defender Sarah Mattson (Venice, Fla. / Venice HS) to its Class of 2017.
Eigenbauer enters her senior season at Mill Creek this spring with an impressive resume already – having scored 20 goals and supplied 22 assists during her three previous seasons on the high school level. The All-County choice led Mill Creek to a spot on the Georgia Class AAAAAAA state Sweet Sixteen last season.
Jackson has also been a very productive performer thus far on the prep level, scoring 42 goals in 42 games – along with 25 assists – at Spotsylvania (Va.) High. That production earned Jackson a first-team All-State nod last season after she scored 16 goals and dished off eight assists.
Jonas brings a great deal of experience to the Runnin' Bulldogs, having started for five seasons on the varsity level at Hicksville (N.Y.) High on Long Island. She also has been a regular member of the Region 1 ODP and enjoyed an impressive career – wrapping that up with her second All-County selection in a row this past fall.
Mattson's ability to play multiple positions on the field should translate quickly during her time in Boiling Springs. She not only starred at Venice (Fla.) High, but also for the West Florida Flames and with the Florida ODP state team.
Each of the four signees will join the Gardner-Webb roster in time for the 2017 season.
