Gardner-Webb Rolls To Fifth-Straight Women's Tennis Win With 6-1 Effort At Radford

RADFORD, Va. – Gardner-Webb won its fifth-straight women's tennis match Saturday, rolling to a 6-1 win at Radford in another key Big South Conference tilt.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (10-4, 4-2 Big South) picked up the important doubles point to get going early, with Catherine White and Sarah Rieckmann posting a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles to secure the quick lead. Daniela Naupari and Miljana Ristic also won their match at No. 3 doubles, cruising to a 6-1 win.

Ristic started the singles action off on the right foot, taking a straight sets win over Meili Martin at No. 4 singles (6-4, 6-4). Sandra Bolstad gave Gardner-Webb a 3-0 team lead with her victory at No. 1 singles, beating Drousile Dzeubou in straight sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-1.

White clinched the win soon after, winning easily at No. 5 singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-0. Mary Walker Mixon came through with a win at No. 6 singles, taking the first set with ease (6-1) before rallying to take a 7-6 (7-4) win in the second set.

The Highlanders (6-10, 0-6 Big South) picked up their lone team point at No. 2 singles, before Naupari closed the day with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.

Gardner-Webb, which hasn't dropped a match since March 4, returns home to host Liberty next Friday (March 31).
