The Runnin' Bulldogs (12-15, 2-10 Big South) won the match by scores of 25-17, 25-23, and 25-18. GWU outhit the Blue Hose, .177 to .116 and had twice as many team blocks, 8-4.
Presbyterian was led in kills by Samantha Del Toro with nine, digs by Mikayla Register with 19, and assists by Sara Rogers with 57.
The Blue Hose opened the first set with a 7-4 advantage, yet the Runnin' Bulldogs would respond with a 10-3 run to take a 14-10 lead following a service ace by Kacy O'Connor. GWU would remain in control throughout the set, pushing the lead to eight points at 23-15, and would go on to claim the opening set by that margin, 25-17.
Gardner-Webb began the second set with a 5-1 spurt, highlighted by a pair of kills from Keira Moore and Molly Johnston. Presbyterian would respond with six unanswered points to take a 7-5 lead, and would eventually build a lead as high as four points at 19-15. Gardner-Webb would retaliate, piecing together a quick 5-0 rally to take a 20-19 lead on a kill by Lancaster.
The Blue hose would reclaim the lead and hold a 23-21 advantage, yet the Runnin' Bulldogs scored the final four points of the set to win, 25-23, highlighted by three kills by Dyson, and to take a 2-0 advantage into the 10-minute break.
Gardner-Webb opened the third set with a 6-1 run, capped by a kill from Johnston t take an early advantage. Presbyterian would rally to tie the set at 8-8, but GWU would produce a 5-1 spurt to take a 13-9 lead on a block from Dyson and Lancaster.
Gardner-Webb would remain in control for the set, wrapping up the frame with a pair of kills from Celarek to take the 25-18 win and the overall match victory.
