BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University softball team fell in both of their games on day two of hosting the Red and Black Classic. The first was to Lindenwood University 7-2, and then to Marist College 3-0. Both games were highlighted by the heavy wind experienced from left to right field into the evening.
The Lindenwood Lions got runs across early in the ballgame as they hung two in the second inning. They did the most damage in the third as they hung a trio more. The Lions added one more in the fourth before GWU began to chip away at the 6-0 lead.
Araceli Pesqueira doubled in the sixth inning scoring
Adrienne Visintine and
Jailyn Tineo. These were Gardner-Webb's only runs in the game as Lindenwood took the game 7-2.
GWU's second game against Marist was a low scoring affair.
Andrea Lyon only allowed three runs on three hits in the whole seven frames. Despite six hits from the Runnin' Bulldogs, the Red Foxes kep the door closed winning the game 3-0.
