Launched in August 2021, the Runnin’ Bulldogs Sports Network (#RBSN) is a multimedia platform that houses all radio and digital broadcast content produced by Gardner-Webb Athletics. All live video streaming content airs on ESPN platforms.

Football

All Gardner-Webb football games air on the Varsity Network App, online, and locally on WGNC AM 1450 and FM 101.1. Pregame coverage begins 30 minutes prior to opening kickoff. 

Men's & Women's Basketball

All Gardner-Webb men’s and women’s basketball games air digitally on the Varsity Network App and online. Select games can be heard on ESPN Charlotte, 730 AM and 97.5 FM. Pregame coverage begins 30 minutes prior to opening tipoff.

Baseball & Softball

New in 2023, select Gardner-Webb baseball and softball games air digitally on the Varsity Network App and online. Pregame coverage begins 15 minutes prior to first pitch.

On-Air Talent

Play-by-Play Announcers

Jim “Mojo” Morrison (3rd season) - A 30-year sports broadcasting veteran and an award-winning sports writer, Morrison most recently spent six years as the voice of Gaston County high school football and basketball on WGNC Radio. (Syracuse, ’88)

Mike Foiles (2nd season) – Foiles joined Gardner-Webb after three seasons at Queens University of Charlotte (’19-’22), where he broadcasted 13 different sports for the Queens Sports Network. (Illinois, ’19)

Jon Gross (2nd season)Gross brings extensive collegiate broadcasting experience to Gardner-Webb, having called games at nearly a dozen Division I schools across the Carolinas. During the summer, Gross broadcasts CONCACAF, NWSL, and USL matches for major streaming platforms. (Penn State, ’19)

Mark Binetti (2nd season) - Binetti joined Gardner-Webb after nine years in professional hockey (’13-’22) with the Stockton Heat (AHL, Calgary Flames) and Rapid City Rush (ECHL, Arizona Coyotes and Minnesota Wild). With Rapid City, he was twice named a finalist for ECHL Broadcaster of the Year. Binetti also called four seasons of American Legion Baseball with the Rapid City Post 22 Hardhats (’15-’18). Color Analysts

Football

Reginald Walker Jr. (5th season) – A former defensive back at Penn State University (’00-’03), Walker began his broadcasting career in 2002, spent 12 years covering college sports as a producer at ESPN, and is a regular on-air contributor to radio and television broadcasts throughout the region. He currently hosts The Shutdown Corner, a weekly football show on ESPN Charlotte.

Mark Covert (2nd season) – A former offensive lineman at Catawba College ('12-'15), Covert was a member of Catawba's conference championship team in 2015. He began covering local high school football shortly after graduation and is currently in his fourth season as the television color analyst for Friday Nights Rivals on My-48 WMYV Winston-Salem/Greensboro. Additionally, Covert has called college games at Catawba and Campbell University since 2018 and served as a co-host for The Sports Recap Show on WAME 92.9 FM and 550 AM since 2016.

Basketball

Jerry Dunn (4th season)Dunn brings over 40 years of coaching experience to the air waves. As the head coach at Penn State (’95-’03), Dunn twice brought the Nittany Lions to the NCAA Tournament, including the program’s last trip to the Sweet 16 in 2001. His other notable coaching stops include West Virginia University (Asst., ’03-’07), the University of Michigan (Assoc. HC, ’07-’10), the New York Knicks (Asst., ’12-’13) and Tuskegee University (HC, ’14-’19). In addition to his work at Gardner-Webb, Dunn serves as a game and studio analyst for select national broadcasts on the Big Ten Network.

Sarah Jansen (4th season) – A former USC-Upstate point guard (’99-’04), Jansen spent 16 years coaching in Divisions I and II. She was previously the head coach at Queens (’16-’20) and Mars Hill University (’12-’16), where she was named the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year. Last season, Jansen earned several prominent broadcasting assignments, including the Big South Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships on ESPN+.

ESPN+

On July 24, 2018, the Big South Conference and ESPN announced an extension of its 27-year partnership, establishing ESPN as the exclusive television rights holder of the conference. Per the latest agreement, all Big South football and men’s and women’s basketball games are broadcast on ESPN Platforms, the vast majority of which are streamed to ESPN+. Additionally, more than 400 games per year from men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, baseball, softball, and women’s lacrosse, regular season and conference championship games, air on ESPN+. In total, more than 900 Big South Conference events per year are broadcast on ESPN platforms.
